I came ashore expecting the usual race for a rifle. I stayed for the things I found while looking for one: a drowned workshop, a book worth drying out, and a balloon pilot willing to take me across the island for nothing.

There is work for a good angler here. A patient scavenger can make a living along the shore; a useful neighbour can supply a kitchen, send a parcel, or run a shop. When the group wants a fight, there are armed convoys, hostile estates and a distress signal whose answer is spectacularly unfriendly.

Most strangers cannot kill you or raid your home. Wildlife, weather and the island's other residents provide plenty of trouble. Some city islands allow full PvP; the approach warnings and rules explain where protection ends.

How to join

Washed Up is in open alpha. Expect bugs, changing balance and unfinished systems. Come explore, and help us improve the island by reporting what happens.

You need Rust on PC. Use Launch Rust & Connect, or press F1 in Rust and enter:

client.connect washedup.gg:28015

Join Discord for company, questions and announcements. Maps wipe monthly; skills begin again with the new island. What resets is recorded in the guide.

Start with a small ambition

A bag, a warm light and tomorrow's tools make a decent beginning. Then choose something you want to try.

  • Walk the shore. Search washed-up freight and learn the signs of a wreck below. Scavenging
  • Find your water. Try different bait, watch the river for a salmon run, and keep an eye on the bears. Fishing
  • Make a useful home. Bake bread, tend chickens, improve the workshop and put up a mailbox. Home & Workshop
  • Bring friends and expensive equipment. Stop a convoy, breach an estate or call in air support. Operations
