Island Services¶
The telephone works. The mail arrives by drone. Even the battered computer has a weather page. I mention these things because a person can waste a great deal of time walking a question across the island.
Phones, pagers, voice and data¶
The Apprentice sells the Island Phone, a functioning mobile telephone. Deployed home telephones and public booths can call services too. Open the directory for weather, Gem Stock, taxis, Island Dial-a-Joke and registered phones. An RF Pager receives messages but cannot make voice calls.
Carry a phone or pager in main inventory, belt or worn inventory for eligible service reports. A phone takes priority when you carry both. Stock changes, parcels, convoy traffic and Raid Estate notices can reach you this way; they do not form an offline inbox.
Sound, silence and notification choices¶
The phone vibrates. A pager beeps with Silent OFF and vibrates with Silent ON. /toggle phone or /toggle pager changes the shared notification-sound preference while keeping the text; /toggle raid controls Raid Estate device notices separately.
Weather and Gem Stock calls hang up after accepting the request, then return text and, when available, speech. Nearby people can hear a spoken report. The message-sound switch does not mute ordinary calls.
Taxi Service has a runtime-assigned number; use its directory entry.
Spoken stock and weather reports have a 60-second per-caller cooldown; text remains available.
These services' spoken reports need a usable audio service and a caller near ground level.
Island Dial-a-Joke has a 10-second per-caller cooldown.
| Service | Dial or choose | Response |
|---|---|---|
| Gem Stock | 43678625 | Current rotating Dealer offers and Gem prices; text and available voice |
| Weather | 93284370 | Current conditions, local Celsius temperature and wind; text and available voice |
| Taxi Service | Taxi Service in the telephone directory | Request a physical road pickup |
| Island Dial-a-Joke | 56535653 | A random joke in chat, with available telephone speech |
Island Dial-a-Joke answers at 56535653, or through its directory entry. The call ends after accepting the request, then a joke arrives in chat and, when speech is available, aloud nearby. Wait ten seconds between calls. I have not found a setting that makes the jokes better.

Post Office¶

I read the recipient, grid and postage before dispatching anything valuable. A Mail Terminal can send real items to another survivor's eligible mailbox. Using the outgoing counter does not grant access to its owner's inbox; the postal drone collects the parcel and crosses the island to the routed terminal.
The Mail Terminal guide covers composing a parcel, rerolling a destination, capacity and arrival notices. Leave the drone alone. The Postal Inspector has more reason than most people to remember who shot at the delivery.
Use: Stage the parcel, choose a recipient with room in their terminal, pay the quoted postage, and let the drone do its work.
Cost: Brindas
Mail Terminals¶
Deploy a mailbox to make a Mail Terminal. Your first qualifying placement can receive an Island Mail Network welcome publication. Keep the box in place and collect the book; the welcome is once per player.
Sending a parcel¶
If your own inbox contains mail, retrieve it and open the terminal again to compose.

Put outgoing items in the compose container, select a recipient with an eligible terminal and read the destination grid and postage. Multiple recipient boxes mean routing chooses one; a paid reroll can select another. Self-mail needs a second terminal.
Closing the compose window returns staged items. A full destination rejects the parcel and charges the displayed rejection fee. Downed postal drones can scatter their cargo; paid shop deliveries have a separate recovery arrangement.
Arrival notices¶
A carried phone or pager can report a parcel to an online recipient. The terminal needs no power for those messages. Its attached Smart Alarm offers separate Rust+ notifications when properly wired, paired and subscribed. The alarm's tidy appearance does not supply actual electricity.
Postage is quoted before sending and depends on contents, stack count and rain. Route rerolls are priced separately.
A terminal's decorative powered appearance does not supply real electrical power to its Smart Alarm.
| Feature | Current behavior |
|---|---|
| Outgoing parcel | 4 item stacks |
| Owner inbox | 15 item stacks |
| Route reroll | Starts at 1 Brinda; doubles after each attempt |
| Address | Another eligible Mail Terminal; self-mail needs a second terminal |
| Full destination | Parcel stays staged; only the rounded 5% rejection fee is charged |
| In-game arrival notice | Online recipient with carried phone/pager; destination grid and sender |
| Rust+ arrival notice | Wire, pair and subscribe to the terminal's Smart Alarm |
Public machinery, private production¶

Public Resource Extractors¶
At a public quarry, pumpjack or the Giant Excavator, my fuel and output remain mine even when another survivor uses the same machine. We can work the site together without taking one another's supplies.
I add the right fuel at the normal input and collect at the hopper. The machinery's animation is shared, so a running machine does not prove my own input is funded. The public machinery guide lists the fuel, products and what survives a map change.
Use: Use the public controls normally. Your fuel, selected Excavator output, production progress, and collected material remain yours.
Cost: The machine's normal fuel
Leave room for output. These inventories survive ordinary restarts and belong to the current map.
Every player has separate input, output and partial work at each public machine. Animation is shared; fuel and output are private.
Production pauses when it cannot fit its output. Private inventories survive reloads/restarts and reset with the map.
Player-placed quarries and pumpjacks are disabled; use public sites.
| Public machine | Your fuel | Your output |
|---|---|---|
| Stone Quarry | Low Grade Fuel | Stones, Metal Ore |
| Sulfur Quarry | Low Grade Fuel | Sulfur Ore |
| HQM Quarry | Low Grade Fuel | High Quality Metal Ore |
| Pumpjack | Low Grade Fuel | Crude Oil |
| Giant Excavator | Diesel Fuel | Selected native resource: Stone, Metal Ore, Sulfur Ore, or High Quality Metal Ore |
The IT-99/4A Island Computer¶

Look for this mid-to-endgame purchase among the Gem Dealer's possible offers. Connect 15 power to Power In and sit down. Public terminals show the information pages; an eligible personal terminal also permits shopping. Keep a Mail Terminal available for purchases.
Starting up¶

Boot screen. Connect the required power and sit at the computer. Allow it to finish starting. The terminal is still a physical place in the world, so leave clear room around the seat for a normal dismount.

Home and navigation. The left menu opens the computer’s main areas. Home repeats those destinations as shortcuts. Select a page, then use its own tabs and page controls to find the relevant record. Your balances and available choices belong to the seated character.
Weather and News Wire¶

Conditions. Start here for the weather around the terminal. Read temperature, rain, wind and the other current measurements before deciding whether to leave. A useful report still needs to be compared with the clothing and journey you have planned.

Observations. Compare readings from other places when a trip crosses the island. Local conditions can differ from the place where you are sitting; a dry home is not proof that a distant route has cleared.

Outlook. Use the forecast cards for the coming trend. They help distinguish a short interruption from weather worth planning around. The report does not remove cold or wetness already affecting you.

Almanac. Consult daylight and lunar information when choosing a departure. It is easier to make a short trip before dark than to discover halfway through it that you packed only for sunshine.

Local Radar. The radar gives the surrounding weather a shape and direction. Read it alongside the observations and outlook rather than treating a single view as the whole island.

News Wire. Headlines and the other news tabs report island activity, obituaries and selected event information. Check what is recent before choosing an outing. An event report is information, not a reservation or a guarantee that nothing has changed since it was posted.
Shopping¶

AMRA Everyday. Browse the catalog pages and inspect the quoted price, quantity and remaining stock. The everyday selection stays listed while stock replenishes. A personal terminal can make eligible purchases; goods still need a suitable Mail Terminal with room to receive them.

AMRA Books. This shelf rotates publications. Check the grant and price before ordering, particularly when somebody in the group already knows part of the lesson. Public terminals let you inspect offers; eligible delivery purchases require a personal terminal.

Gem Dealer. Read the current shelf and your available Gems here. Stock and allowances are shared with the physical counters. A listed possible item is different from an offer available in the current rotation.

Bandit Guns. Inspect the actual weapon offer, its quantity and price. The computer records the current transaction choices. The screenshot shows one captured shelf, so use the page in game for today’s offer.
Raid Estates¶

Listings. Check the grid, difficulty and remaining open-house time before travelling. Opening the page does not reserve the estate. Read the Estate guide for participation, the cupboard objective and the demolition that follows a win.
Reading Room¶

Your archive. Browse discovered publications and choose Read. You can consult a work without keeping every old physical copy. An unavailable or retired publication can remain in the history with a status explaining why it cannot currently open.

Reading. Scroll through the work and return to the archive when finished. Consultation does not repeat blueprint, skill or item rewards. The back control preserves your archive page, which helps when comparing manuals for something you intend to make.
Learning and Account¶

Effects. Check what is acting on you now, including strength and remaining time where supplied. The page refreshes while open. A temporary meal effect and learned knowledge are separate entries; inspect which activity a benefit actually describes.

Skill Bonuses. Review benefits earned through relevant activity. Use them when estimating a material cost, yield or duration. A description of one activity does not apply the same advantage to every price or machine on the island.

Learned Skills. Inspect abilities and lessons already acquired. A Read action can open an available source publication for consultation. Rereading does not grant the lesson again; it is a way to check instructions while planning.

Blueprint DB. Browse or search known native blueprints. This helps separate a weapon you possess from one you know how to make. Custom recipe knowledge is recorded through its own learning path.

Account. This page gathers personal records such as activity, knowledge and mail. Lifetime records and current-wipe progress have different retention rules. Consult Wipes and Persistence before assuming they reset together.
Services¶

Balloons. The board follows the published station order and reports vehicles, departures, arrivals and delays. Read its status-color key. Checking the board does not make the physical balloon wait at a station.

Service Doors. Discovered connections appear here. This pictured character has no recorded routes yet. Find the connections in the world; the page does not provide an unexplored destination menu.

Mailbox. Check terminal grids, pending deliveries and used/free inbox space. The right address needs enough room for the complete delivery. Use a Mail Terminal itself when composing an ordinary parcel.

Taxi. Check operating cars and dispatch availability. To call a ride, use Taxi Service in a telephone directory. Board at its pickup and set the destination afterward; the computer status page does not summon it.

Feuds. Review active disputes before relying on ordinary PvE protection. This page reports them; use /feud and the consent rules to create or inspect a challenge.
Relaxing Views¶

Camera directory. Your local eye comes first, followed by other available feeds. Busy and Offline explain why a particular view cannot open. Fixed cameras stay fixed, while a PTZ camera may already be under another viewer’s control.

EYE cameras. Match a camera identifier to its fixture and page through the directory. Your terminal’s own identifier appears on its frame. A camera’s location and power still govern what it can show.

Viewing. Use the camera’s native controls where supported. The view comes from a real fixture; it does not move your seated character or make the area around the terminal safe.

Returning. Exit a feed to return to the same directory page. Space leaves the camera first. Use Log Off, or dismount after returning, when you are finished. Leave room around the chair for that dismount.
Info Panel¶
I use /info when the next question is a rule or a command, rather than a reason to open every menu. For the short list worth remembering, see Commands and Preferences.
Use: /info
Use /info or /help for the island's in-game information panel; /rules opens the rules. The website help keeps common problems together.
