Wipes & Persistence¶
The monthly wipe brings a new custom island. Pack away the route you memorized and expect to build home again. Favourite maps may return, and announcements take precedence when a wipe has special terms.
What changes¶
| Part of your game | Monthly map-wipe expectation |
|---|---|
| Buildings and deployed equipment | Belong to the old world; build again. |
| Practice skill levels | Reset. |
| Learned skills | Reset, including knowledge that needs to be learned again. |
| Achievements and claimed reward history | Normally retained; an old claim does not reopen. |
| Lifetime play time | Retained. Current-wipe time starts again. |
| Discovered publication history | Retained for consultation; remembering a work does not preserve its current-wipe unlocks. |
| Public-machine inventories and other world-bound work | Reset with that world. |
| Preferences | Individual rules apply; the clock preference is preserved, while other menu choices can reset. |
Check the wipe announcement for native blueprint and inventory terms. A map wipe and an explicitly declared blueprint/player reset are different instructions.
Before the new island¶
Finish temporary work and collect what you want to use before the wipe. A cooking batch, a private finale cache and an active expedition belong to the world where they began. Taking a screenshot of a good workshop can be more useful than trying to remember its plumbing afterward.
Ordinary server restarts are different from wipes. Paid mail-order purchases have delivery recovery of their own; a missing mailbox can leave an accepted order waiting for a suitable replacement. See Island Services.
Temporary food, medicine and encounter effects have their own expiry, death and disconnect rules. Logging out is a poor preservation method for either a bonus or an unfinished ghost recovery.
